History / Our Story

The Lomita Chamber of Commerce officially launched in April 2019, restoring a vital resource for the local business community after several years without an active Chamber. A prior Lomita Chamber of Commerce, dating back to the 1950s, ceased operations around 2014. The current Chamber was established as a new, independent organization, separate from the former Chamber and its past operations.

As Lomita experienced renewed investment, a revitalized downtown, and an increase in new and expanding businesses, it became clear that the city once again needed a unifying organization to support local businesses, encourage collaboration, and serve as a voice for economic vitality.

Rebuilding the Chamber

In conversations with local business owners and City leadership, strong interest emerged around reestablishing a Chamber that could bring businesses together and work in partnership with the City to support a thriving local economy.

With early encouragement from the City of Lomita and broad support from the business community, the Lomita Chamber of Commerce moved forward and was formally established as a an entirely new 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization. From the outset, the focus was on building a sustainable, member-supported organization rooted in trust, collaboration, and local engagement.

Founding Support

The Chamber’s launch was made possible through the commitment and support of its Founding Members, whose early financial and in-kind contributions provided the seed funding necessary to establish operations and core programs.

Founding support included South Bay Credit Union and Coastal Funeral Center, along with additional early partners such as California Water Service, Workman+Kemp Real Estate, Southern California Gas Company, The Picerne Group, the City of Lomita, Torrance Refining Company, Localista Media, and Social Workplace, which also contributed donated office space and marketing and web hosting services.

Without the trust and support of these early partners, the Lomita Chamber of Commerce would not be here today.

Growing With the Community

From its earliest days, the Lomita Chamber of Commerce has focused on creating meaningful opportunities for connection — bringing businesses, residents, and community partners together through networking events, programs, and signature initiatives.

As the Chamber grew, so did its role in the community. Today, the Chamber supports local businesses through advocacy, education, visibility, and collaboration, while continuing to adapt to the evolving needs of Lomita’s business community.

Our Identity & Logo

The Lomita Chamber of Commerce logo was designed to reflect the Chamber’s role as a connector within the community. Its elements represent growth, collaboration, and pride in place — reinforcing Lomita’s identity as the Heart of the South Bay.

As the Chamber has evolved, its visual identity has remained a consistent symbol of its mission: supporting local businesses and strengthening the community they serve.

Looking Ahead

While honoring its history, the Lomita Chamber of Commerce remains focused on the future — supporting a strong local economy, fostering partnerships across the South Bay, and helping Lomita continue to thrive as a place where businesses can start, grow, and succeed.

The Chamber’s story continues to be written by the businesses, partners, and community members who invest their time, energy, and support into Lomita’s success.
