That’s Right! We’ve Launched!
On Sunday, July 5th from 11 AM to 3 PM we kicked off the Lomita Farmers Market with a great turn out. Although we didn’t plan a big shindig around the market the mayor and almost all of the city council members shopped the market! The Lomita Farmers Market will launch initially with tons of Fresh Certified Produce and other vendor booths!

We have big plans! But, we are required to err on the side of caution. Due to public health requirements, we have had to modify the Market a bit for the safety of everyone. At this time, we’re not able to have live music or other types of food or beverage vendors, but we hope to add these elements once we get the all-clear from the City, County and State, and it’s safe to do so. We look forward to when we can have local bands, other food vendors and businesses who are eager to come and help celebrate our community. Until then, we need to follow safe practices.

Your Health Matters… for Everyone
Please wear a mask whenever possible, use our Hand Sanitizer stations before and after any transactions, maintain 6 feet of social distance and follow the signs. We are setting up a one-way traffic flow around the city hall building starting in the parking lot. (See our site plan to the left.)

How we got here…

In general, Farmers markets reconnect communities to their food system. They create an opportunity where farmers can simultaneously sell fresh, local food and serve as food educators, revitalizing the way consumers shop and eat.

The Lomita Chamber of Commerce conducted a Farmers Market Survey to determine if there was a desire to bring a Farmers Market to Lomita and when it should be held and received over 1000 responses.

Lomitians spoke out strongly in favor of a local Farmers Market. Many mentioned that they wanted a way to connect with their neighbors, to have a place to spend the day with their kids and family members. To experience live entertainment, shop for the weeks fresh produce and find healthy ready-to-eat and tasty options.

The Lomita Chamber of Commerce listened and organized a weekly event that we hope checks all of those boxes. We hired a Farmers Market Manager and invited not just Chamber members but even non-members to reserve a booth space.
